Lake District Cottages – splendid for a get-together with family and friends Here we have three Georgian houses, all very different from each other, each with their own gardens and own privacy (all face in different directions), yet with the possibility of taking all three together to sleep up to 28 if you so wish. The main house, Low Millgillhead sleeps 12 and offers comfortable accommodation with an open fire, good sized bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen with separate dining room. Many of the original features have been retained and it has an acre of gardens to the front and the back of the house. Croft House (sleeps 12) is a beautiful barn conversion with a fantastic sitting room with dining area – ideal for group or family get togethers. The mature gardens have interesting nooks to explore, including a secret garden hidden away amongst the rhododendrons. Rose Cottage is a pretty cottage sleeping four people. An open fire in the sitting room gives the cottage a cosy feel and up the spiral staircase is a twin and a double bedroom. The garden outside is lovely. With Loweswater Lake just three miles away, and Ennerdale Water four miles, Low Millgillhead is perfectly situated for some of the best walking in the Lake District. Some of the Lake District’s highest mountains surround Ennerdale and here you can still see more sheep than people. Loweswater has beautiful lakeside walks with an award winning pub at the end! Other outdoor activities nearby include pony trekking, fishing, rock climbing and mountain biking. Cockermouth with its shops, restaurants, cafes and cinema is just a ten minute drive away.

We had a wonderful dinner for 26 people at the house on the Saturday evening and our caterer was very pleased with the facilities. We even did Sally's Walk to Loweswater and took a delightful walk following your directions to the beer festival at Kirkstile. Such a beautiful place, I will never forget my 40th birthday weekend spent in The Lakes."
RED SQUIRRELS I was over at Croft House the other week and a red squirrel was having a lovely time in the garden. I must have watched it for 20 minutes before it ran off up a tree.
